It's hard to tell how accurate the details in the tabloid press are. They're determined to sell this as a 'PC gone mad' story about gays where that part of the story doesn't seem very relevant other than as a a reason for the grandparents to not be able to see the children. It's not clear whether there are good reasons for the grandparents to not be able to adopt or whether the social workers involved are going off on one for some underhand reason, be it ageism, classism or personal dislike.

I don't think that blood links are all important. In fact, the reason I think that it can be better to keep the children with their grandparents is because it provides more continuity. The same argument could be made for the children living with a family friend they've grown up knowing. Genetic links have nothing to do with it.
