I get the impression that Christianity tends to frame holiness more in terms of coming together than in separating. I wouldn't be offended by an approach which claimed that Leviticus is part of framework which values separate gender roles but Christianity is a break from that system "no Greek, no Jew, no man, no woman etc." and therefore the prohibition doesn't need to be part of Christian framework of holiness. This approach would be more charitable to Leviticus and also avoid the danger of tacitly condoning male superiority. Of course, any Christian theology which sees Jesus as a radical break from the past has to face the issue of how to relate to the piety of those who came before him. Did G@d change the rules or are earlier scripture mistaken in their prohibitions?
