I decided to do some painting really thickly in acrylic and I drew a flower. I'm not sure if it's a thistle or an ornamental onion.

Day 18
I painted a nymph in watercolour.

Day 19
I'm counting my pirate costume as a piece of performance art.

Day 20
I was very naughty and was too busy having fun to do anything.

Day 21
I painted two nymphs having sex in watercolour.

Day 17

I decided to do some more menstrual art. I thought it would be appropriate to do a piece inspired by Isaiah 51:1-2. I sketched it out in my sketch book and then carefully took out my mooncup keeping it upright to ensure I didn't spill any to find that it was empty. I'm going to see whether I collect any today and colour it in if I do.

Now the conundrum: if my period has stopped should I wait until my next period to finish the picture or cheat and colour it in in red paint?

Day 16

Aug. 17th, 2006 11:13 am

I made a poster at work for the conference next month about what our time does.

Pathetic and not very artistic. I will be good and do naarmamo properly as soon as I get some sleep (probably September).

Another day of only remembering to do art at the last minute (bad Sam) so I draw a tea cup and some cakes whilst I sat on my bed in my jim jams.

Day 11
I went to a guys leaving drinks so I got a later train than usual meaning that I would only get home about 10 minutes before shabbat. Due to this I did my art on the train by turning one of my old train tickets into a paper airplane.

Day 12
Only remembered quite late so got out my acrylic paints and painted a flower with my fingers. Expectedly it looks like it was painted at nursery.

Day 13
Forgot again until I was in bed so draw an abstract shape in pencil. I actually really like it and think that being sleepy helped. To me it looks quite 60s. I will call it 'Alien Landscape'.

Day 14
I was menstruating. I have a mooncup. I'm a tree-hugging feminist vegan hippy. It was inevitable. I painted a picture with my menstrual blood. I thought the most appropriate subject would be a vulva. Alec said he preferred the vulva I drew on day 8. He said that was his favourite of the things I've done so far. I think my favourite is day 10.

Day 10

Aug. 11th, 2006 09:22 am

I painted a stormy sea in acrylic paint using my fingers instead of a paint brush. I think it came out really well.

Day 9

I took Alec out to dinner last night so arrived home rather late. I drew an eye on my flamingo chalk board in white chalk. I must remember not to wipe it off before I get a chance to take a photograph of it so that I can upload it when I get around to uploading pictures of the art I've done.

Day 8

Aug. 9th, 2006 09:14 am

I painted a picture of my vulva in pink and purple acrylic paint.

I sat on the bed with my legs apart and a makeup mirror propped up on the bed in front of me and painted with my sketch book resting against my thigh. I think it came out quite well. I had never noticed before quite how asymmetric my vulva is.

Day 7

I composed a poem as I was walking home from the station. When I told Alec my poem he said that it wasn't a poem so to be on the safe side I messed around with my new acrylic paints and painted some basil and a pansy.

Anyway here is my (un)poem.

The most beautiful things
Grow in the cracks
We do not fill.

Day 4
I was inspired by the 500 word opinion piece in the JC to draw grass. I painted a clump of grass from imagination in watercolour. I think it is my favourite piece so far.

Day 5
I forgot until just before bed so I draw a woman wearing a big skirt in pencil. It began by being inspired by an article I read about the history of skirts in Bust. Then I draw her with her hands behind her back so I didn't have to draw hands so I think she looked a little The Story of O inspired although no one else seems to have noticed this and think it is me in my perfect dress. (It is quite obviously not me as she is not wearing glasses.)

Day 6
As I could spend more time on this piece I decided to do a proper watercolour scene in college. Unfortunately as I painted the sun moved so my original shady seat became baking and I was too blinded by the sun to paint. I had to move to a new shady spot and paint the rest from memory. It wasn't too bad except for the Erasamus building that just didn't work. Alec said this was appropriate as the Erasamus Building itself didn't go right.

I also bought some more art supplies as if I went by [ profile] the_alchemist's rule all of my art would be in biro on the back of used envelopes. I bought some acrylic paint, as I don't think watercolour is really my medium. I don't like using something in which I can't undo my mistakes. Not only can I not undo my mistakes when they occur but I also too timid to paint in case I make a mistake. I also bought a set of brushes and one of those mini trowel things, a set of sketching pencils, a pencil sharpener, a rubber and I larger watercolour brush to do washes with. I bought most of this from the little cheap book and art supplies shop which recently opened on Kings Parade so it didn't come to much more than £10.

Day 3

Aug. 4th, 2006 01:14 pm

I forgot about [ profile] naarmamo last night until I was about to go to bed so I quickly drew a little cartoon man wearing white tie in black gel pen.

For day 2 of [ profile] naarmamo I painted a watercolour to explore what design I might put on a challah cloth. it was a quite classic 'shabbat shalom' with wine, candles and challot. In the background I did pretty colours in swirly brush strokes.

Now I'm considering perhaps going for a much simpler design and doing challah cloth in wax batik.
