Chronic pain is always going to be a fairly bad thing; arguably, there's a bigger distinction between a disability involving chronic pain and one which doesn't than there is between disabilities and other forms of social disadvantage?
That said, my views on this are going to be fairly different from yours, because I'm quite firmly pro-suicide.
